What it takes to be a leader... my own views plus Chapter 4 Perks to Price in Leadershift by John C. Maxwell

When I think of myself as a leader, this picture I took in Colorado Springs comes to mind- the huge mountain I climbed over a decade ago.

When you are a leader,  it's always an uphill battle. It is hard to lead when you lead right because it is your actions that inspire people the most. I need to always be doing the right thing. Right now, it is costing me a lot to lead because I know that anything worth doing is not easy. If it were easy, everyone would lead.

Looking at this picture and reading chapter 4, I think of the following:
1. Leaders never look back  (if you do, you may fall)
2. Climbing up is slow,  steady, and worth the patience because once you succeed, you can celebrate with the other people around you who were encouraging you.
3. It is scary!! Sometimes you walk up alone but you must be prepared to do that if you want to be a good leader.
4. Consistency is key
5. To reach your potential,  you must pay the price.
6. You must believe in yourself
7. There is hope and hard- hope is your dream you hold onto and hard is all the work you put into it which can be ugly at times. My hard right now is all the start up costs. My hope is that I will get more customers ;)

Thank you John for another relevant chapter!
