The Growth Mindset Culture for Leadership Development- Fred Harburg...

I opened up my Chief Learning Officer magazine and on page 13, I came across a great article by Fred Harburg from Kellogg School of Management.

He makes the case that one's personality is malleable rather than fixed and so instead of keeping leaders in a box by their personality type, it makes more sense to develop a leader by focusing them on a meaningful commitment to a practical strategy.

"Current research findings of unconscious bias and the malleability of personality are accelerating the move to a growth mindset approach."

As LD professionals, we must facilitate this growth mindset approach by creating an organizational culture that both supports growth and models the desired leadership behavior. Personality is more learned than innate.

"If organizational culture has a strategy for breakfast, it also drives the LD menu."

This is even more reason why the book, Powerful is so powerful to LD professionals. Culture can create the leaders you need to drive your business forward!

Thank you Fred for your insight and article.

Lots of good book and research references too.
