5 month check in... weight loss journey - never give up!

wow! Its been 5 months already,  almost half a year. My last post was 2 months ago and so much has happened since. I found out I have Rhematoid Arthritis which causes me pain once in a while.

I also began working full time and the stress of being away from home and trying to balance everything definitely took a toll on my weight loss plan. I started to eat more junk and it was definitely emotional eating.

Last month, the corona virus forced all Americans and people across the world to stay at home,  gyms and all non essential businesses shut down and parents are now homeschooling their children. I lost my job and that's ok because it was only temporary anyway. All these changes especially no gym and being home all the time now led me towards eating more junk and not caring as much. However,  last week, I joined this app called Noom and it has gotten me back on track.

Since November I lost 25 lbs, which averages to 5 lbs per month. My goal was 10 lbs per month and I thought I would have lost double by now but good news is that despite all the life changes I been experiencing and emotional ups and downs,  I am still committed and never gave up. Yes, last week I truly thought to myself- I'm never gonna lose weight and just gain it all back because I couldn't stop snacking and control my eating. So, I took action!! I signed up for noom to give psychological tips, support and food tracking and I ordered low carb/ healthy meals to cook myself from Green Chef. Within a week, I am already down 4 lbs! I feel so happy right now. I know that in 2 months- the start of summer, I can be down 20-25 lbs and this is realistic for me. By my birthday in July I can be down another 15. I didn't want another summer to go by where I felt disappointed in myself.

We all need support on a weight loss journey because it is not easy to change bad habits or deal with life stresses alone.

As far as exercise,  I've committed to doing my lower body beach body 30 minute workouts 2 x per week and upper body 2x per week and on other days go for walks or jogs. As long as I'm moving my body, I feel great. I danced today with my kids for 40 minutes and it was awesome.

I want everyone to know that you should never give up on your goals no matter how many times you almost give up or mess up... just look for new ways that can help you achieve your goals and keep going forward.

If I believed that distorted thought of "I'm never going to ever lose this weight and just gain it all back " then I probably would have fulfilled that destiny but instead I dug deep and got my mind in the right place and took action.

Never give up on yourself!
