From 20s to almost 40...

Ahhh, it's so interesting and funny actually to look at women in their 20s writing and vlogging about all they know or think they know in life. They start exploring eastern and western philosophies in college and beyond and read topics in psychology and science and history, etc. And... form opinions on things as it relates to their own lives right now.  I was that 20-something woman too. I did all that reading, thinking,  searching and questioning.  I thought I knew a lot...

But now that I'm almost 40, yes will be 40 in 3 months exactly,  I've realized that I lacked actual experience and perspective in my 20s... and what I thought I knew, I really didn't.

From 22 to 40, I've graduated college, had 4 children,  been through major career changes, had some serious mental health challenges that couldn't just be brushed off by a vacation, I've lost close people in my life like my Aunt, Godmother,  and most recently,  my Dad. I've had to go through tough life choices, make big decisions and take on major responsibilities like never before. I find that these experiences give you wisdom and knowledge more than reading... as you get older and face challenges head on, you truly learn who you are and what you're made of...

When I was in my 20s, single, no kids, sure its easy to deal with a little depression or anxiety by doing other things besides taking medication and I believed this to be true and thought nobody needed medication to get better mentally... until it wasn't true for me anymore. When I was faced with postpartum psychosis, I needed medication asap... and once accepting the help, I understood that modern medicine is actually helpful and got me balanced and normal very fast. It didn't change who I was. It just helped a chemical imbalance I was suffering from due to postpartum changes.

That's just an example of how when you are younger and in different circumstances you might think one way but as life hands you challenges,  your mind will be opened to seeing other sides.

I encourage everyone to keep learning,  keep growing and open your mind to new opinions and ideas as your life experiences provide you with more wisdom.
